Name: Lazko. Gender: Male. Age: 2 years. Birthdate: August 13th, 2129. Species: Dog. Breed: Mutt – Smooth Collie, Irish Wolfhound and Belgian Malinois make up the most of him, though many other breeds are also mixed in. Purebred: No. Pack: One Body? Height: 28 inches. Weight: 60 lbs.
Build: Very thin with little muscle. His body is very angular, which is further exaggerated due to being malnourished. Bones obviously jut out around his shoulders, hips, and ribs. He is naturally very thin even when well fed, with a petite frame and long legs*. His tail would naturally hang down and curve into a sickle above his hocks, but he tends to hold it either flat against his backside or curled beneath him most of the time. Coat: Lazko has what is known as a wirehaired coat. It is scruffy, thin, and coarse to the touch. His coat is a sandy cream to copper color that steadily fades into lighter points around his lower body. Most of his lighter markings eventually fade into a white color. His muzzle is also white, with a strip of it running between his eyes. His fur is ripped out in many places either due to scabs, scars, or wounds, leaving him a patchy, scruffy mess that is far from attractive to look at. Head: Long in length and short in height, his head is overall very narrow and thin. His ears are pricked. They are triangular and shape and sit further off to the sides of his head, with tears in the right one. Occasionally they may flop over at the tips, or out to the side. They have the ability to flop over and out to the sides, allowing them to basically pin to his cheeks and neck when they are laid back in fear/submission. This makes him look absolutely pathetic. Eyes: Small and pale blue in color, they rarely make contact with others. Scars: Many old, smaller scars can be found around his legs, neck, and face. His right ear has also been torn. Accessories: Old cable tie around his neck. Pictures:
Speed: High. * Stamina: Above average. Strength: Low. Fighting: Low. Strengths: + Extremely fast. * + Large amount of stamina + Avoids fights + Caring + Has built a high pain tolerance Weaknesses: - Fearful - Poor fighter - Poor social skills - Paranoid - Lacks confidence
Personality: Terrified of nearly everything, Lazko is a nervous wreck. Everything and anything seems to frighten him, leaving him constantly anxious and worrisome, to the point of exhaustion. This paranoid behavior leads him to constantly worry about the motives of others. Any kindness shown to him he fears is fake, and that everyone is either secretly plotting to hurt him in the end, or only showing him kindness out of pity. He has little to no self confidence and often thinks of himself as being completely worthless, and therefore undeserving of genuine kindness.
His time spent as a bait dog has left him with an intense fear of humans. He tries his best to stay as far away from them as possible, and will immediately take off running if one comes within fifteen or so feet of him. Being a bait dog also has lead to his complete inability to fight. Due to not being able to fight back most of the time, or simply being so terribly overpowered that it was impossible to do so, he does not even attempt to fight back anymore. He will first try to run, and if there is nowhere for him to run, he will simply give up and lay down in submission. He will display this submissive behavior whenever he is in a situation where he cannot get away from another dog, regardless of if they are acting aggressively towards him or not.
If he can overcome this fear of others, he is generally pretty nice, but still quite timid. He is very concerned about others if he cares about them, always willing to listen, but does not often have much to say, simply because he does not know what to say. Though he may care about others who seem to be friendly towards him, he will still doubt their motives and constantly tell himself they do not honestly care about him.
He dislikes being asked about himself, as he usually doesn't know what to say, and dislikes sharing his problem with others. He will freeze up and become very awkward if asked about scars, what happened to his ears, or just in general about where he came from. This is due in part to the fact that he is ashamed of this, despite that anyone would tell him he should not feel this way. Most of the time he is angry with himself for being “cowardly” and feels he should have fought back, looking back on all the “what if” roads he could have taken to avoid things that really are not his fault. He will also become angry with himself when trying to talk to others, as he often feels like he has said or done the wrong thing.
Fears: - Humans - Dogs, especially bully types - Fights - Eye contact - Confined spaces
Family: Only pup to survive his litter, parents presumed dead/not in contact with. History: Most of Lazko's early life is nothing out of the ordinary for a dog in The Stranglehold. He was the only pup of his littler to survive their first few weeks of life, born to parents of unknown origin. The amount of breeds between the two of them was definitely in the double digits, if not triple. There's nothing particularly tragic in his puphood, but it is extremely difficult for him to remember anything about it. He stayed with his parents until he was picked up by a gang of men, to be used as a bait dog, which he would endure for the next year and a half of his life. During this time he was frequently tied up, muzzled, or restrained in some manner that prevented him from even attempting to fight back, and occasionally even preventing him from fleeing. More than once his legs were tied together to prevent him from standing up to fight back or run. This eventually lead to him no longer even trying to fight back, even when not restrained. His right foreleg was mangled* during one of these “fights”. After his leg was injured he stopped even trying to run away on top of not fighting back, instead choosing to just roll over in submission or lay still, even when being attacked; he was now considered completely worthless. This happened several times before the men finally just threw him out, his leg still injured.
This is where he stands now, completely terrified of everything and limping about the city, shying away from his own shadow. He tries not to think about or remember most things, and a lot of his memory is rather fuzzy. Most everything before being a bait dog is a blur.
*Note: I wrote his stats as he would be with a non-injured leg. Currently his speed would be lowered quite drastically, as well as his stamina and overall health. I was hoping to immediately get him involved in a pack someway, as it is otherwise unlikely he'd survive long enough for it to heal. The wound is currently still pretty recent.
