Name: Drake
Alias: N/A
Gender: Male.
Age: 5
Birthdate: Spring 2126
Species: Dog.
Breed: Beauceron x Belgian Sheepdog x Karelian Bear Dog
Purebred: No.
Pack: One Body.
Height: 26 inches
Weight: 70 pounds
Build: Drake has a fairly muscular, squarely proportioned body, with strong, yet slender legs. His tail is usually carried semi-low and can take a 'J' shape, though it is usually only slightly curved. He’s a bit thin around his waist due to lack of food and has a slightly curved back. His hips are protruding a bit, though it is hidden under his fur.
Coat: His coat is mostly black and rather short, with patches of moderately long fur around his neck, hips, tail and elbows. It's a dense and weather resistant double-coat, though somewhat matted due to lack of care. He has tan/orange markings on his face and a spot above each eye. His markings also include half of his neck, his chest, lower part of the tail and lower stomach. His back paws are tipped in the same color, as are his front legs, though the line is higher, about one third on the left and half way on his right leg. He has a boomerang shaped splash of white fur spreading over his chest.
Head: His muzzle is pointed and is about the length of his head if not slightly shorter. The ears are triangular in shape, but lean slightly towards the center of the head. Their edges are uneven and slightly tattered.
Eyes: His eyes are a dark brown color and almost almond-shaped, though usually slightly narrowed and with a blank look in them.
Scars: - Hole in left ear
- Scar on the left side of his muzzle
- Scar over his right eye
Accessories: - Worn brown leather collar
Pictures: Something like this, but I'll post a drawing of him once I finnish a sketch.
Speed: Average.
Stamina: Above average.
Strength: Average.
Fighting: Above average.
Strengths:
- He has a leveled head and thinks things through before acting. During fights he isn't controlled by his rage/instincts, but rather his calculating mind. He doesn’t let others provoke him.
- He is highly intelligent and can think for himself, which gives him the ability to solve problems as they come along.
- Follows rules and orders set by his leader/s without question and would do anything to protect his pack.
- He is very brave and doesn't back down in the face of a threat. He would sacrifice himself for those under his care.
Weaknesses:
- He is emotionally distant and can't put himself in other's 'shoes'.
- He seriously lacks drive and motivation, though he doesn’t show it on the outside.
- Fears extremely high places, which can cause him problems with his own mind thinking.
- Not really a weakness, but he dislikes water, particularly swimming.
Personality: Drake’s a calm, brave and very intelligent dog, capable of a sharp mind that can get him out of tense situations. He is rather active, liking to walk and run and is always on guard. Despite that he knows how to relax and rest when the time is right.
Since he was born he has a very difficult time understanding emotions, both in himself and others. It could be something wrong with his brain or psyche, nobody knows, but he can’t feel them as intense as others, especially the more prominent ones such as love and hate. Another part is that he has problems expressing his own emotions. He usually keeps them to himself, unless he sees fit to share them and the situation calls for it. Despite that he has a defined presence and holds his head high and proud. He is very observant and so other dogs don’t see his lack of expressiveness and understanding, putting it down as being level-headed. He is capable of random acts of kindness as well, especially to females and pups, which can make him seem gentle and loving, but is a result of a deeply ingrained sense of honor and duty given to him by his mother. That guidance leads him through life. He would never betray those under his care or his leader. He has problems forming close bonds with other dogs and in a way he fears them. He fears that if he got too close to someone, he would end up hurting them and that he would lose control. In a way he wants nothing more than to experience the whole palate of emotions others can and at the same time it is also his greatest fear.
Coupled with his lack of emotions he also lacks drive and motivation. He never knew anything that really captivated him, motivated him to become more than he is. He has no drive to become alfa, but his is not submissive as well. It is mostly that he doesn’t care for rank, he just wants a role he can play. He wants somewhere to belong and yet his state and fears makes it difficult for him.
Fears:
- His emotions
- Extremely high places
- Losing control of himself
- Creating deep bonds
Family:
Kyla (mother) - Karelian Bear Dog x Beauceron - deceased
Nero (father) - Beauceron x Belgian Sheepdog - deceased
Lake (brother) - Beauceron x Belgian Sheepdog x Karelian Bear Dog - deceased
Lory (brother) - Beauceron x Belgian Sheepdog x Karelian Bear Dog - deceased
History: Drake was born in a litter of three male pups to a very loving mother and a cold, dominant father. From the first moments it was already clear that he was different than his two siblings. When the two whined he just looked on as if he couldn’t understand what was with them and he never sought his mother’s affection and warmth like normal pups would. Kyla tried to get through to her son and took special care with him, but he never seemed to get what she and the others wanted from him. His intense lack of emotions became more and more obvious the older he got and then he began to question. “Why?” he would ask his mother, mostly to acts of love and self-sacrifice he saw in his mother and other animals. Kyla would just look at her blank-faced pup and would tell him: “Because pups are special and should be protected, especially your own.” Slowly and after many thoughts he began to ingrain his mother’s ideas into his own logic, twisting them slightly to sooth his mindset and understanding. He began to note her and his siblings expressions and slowly gained the ability to read others, to hide his own lack of feelings. His mother saw through him and continued with her understanding and loving way, effectively forming a deep bond between Drake and herself. He became a happy and balanced pup.
And then tragedy struck. When the pups were slightly over a year old, around mid-summer, Kyla came down with a deadly disease. She died a short time later, leaving Drake in a state of shock. The only bond he had ever formed in his young life was gone and he began to question the reason behind actually feeling, if it was even worth it. Despite his internal pain and confusion he never shed a tear, trying to piece things together logically and not through the horror of emotions. Forming bonds began to frighten him and more so the pain that could follow them. During all this time the father held back, convinced that his role was hunting and protecting. With his sons now in a reasonable age he began training them in fighting and hunting. He was a hard and demanding teacher, but Drake never whined or said a word, convinced that his father was in the right. It changed when Drake reached the age of three, nearing the season in which his mother died, they snapped at each other because of it. In that fight Drake lost control for the first time in his life and bested his father in battle, but not before receiving some scars on his face. He then stormed out of there.
Just walking around, stunned by his lack of control and his own emotions, he wandered at the edges of his father’s territory for the rest of the day and well into the morning. When he returned he found the rest of his family massacred. In an act of mercy, at least to him, he killed of the survivors. He claimed his father’s collar and left the lands to wander. The event left a deeply ingrained fear of his own emotions and he promised himself that he would never let it come as far as he had let it this time.

Role Play Sample: Slightly calmed down, but still greatly confused, Drake made his way back to his home. He was stunned, he had never lost control before, but when his father had said those things about his mother and said the nickname his mother had for him in mockery, he just snapped. He wasn’t sorry, but it went against his beliefs to hurt anyone in his pack. His pack… he had acted like an alfa, putting a challenger or unruly member in his place. Come to think of it, perhaps he had unknowingly become alfa and this was his father’s way of showing him.
He rounded the corner and froze, the sharp scent of blood reaching his nose. He followed the scent and came upon the site of a blood-covered floor, his brothers and father lying in a pool of their own blood. On a random note he noted that he felt very little over the discovery, as he made his way over. A small whimper caught his attention and he looked towards his brother. This one was still barely alive. Old memories and words echoed in his head, “Killing is a necessary part of life, but torture like that… It is just cruel. When something is fatally injured it is better off dead.” That was what his mother had said when they saw a cat playing with a mouse. He focused his dark eyes to his brother, noting the injuries. ‘It’s fatal… there’s no help…’ His thoughts made the decision for him and he sank his fangs into his brother’s neck, killing him instantly. It was his own act of kindness, in his way.
“You’ve grown Drake…”
He calmly turned his gaze towards his dying father and their eyes met. Intent on ending him as well, he walked towards Nero.
“I understand why you did it son, but let me suffer for as long as I will… in a way you could say I need to repent. I never saw the truth did I, the truth about you… and your potential.” He could see a weak grin on his father’s muzzle. “I received my collar from my father, he ran away from the humans and joined me and my mother in the wild. I got it after his death and now it’s your turn. Kyla always said that one day her little Drake would become a big, strong Dragon. That name suites you, you should hold on to it, my son.” With that his father’s brown eyes fell shut as the last of his life left his body.
Drake stared blankly at his dead father and then turned to leave. “I am not a dragon father, a dragon is complete. I am a drake and as suck I shall remain.” Something in him stopped him from taking another step, and his eyes landed on his father’s old collar. In a swift move he removed the object from around the dead body’s neck and slipped in on his own. Without a word or a look back he then departed from the territory. He would never return again.
