Ooc: Sorry it sucks been a while. lol I hate starting too haha!! The cracked asphalt was not good for a certain dogs feet. The sharp chips kept poking her in between her pads. She had to stop every few feet just to chew out one. Aubrey's ears drooped in exhaustion. She had been trotting along for a while now. Her mission was clear to protect and defend the pack. She'd do it with her life too. The pack was important to her. Her first time where she was in a functioning pack. No gangs for her. She'd put her past behind her. Here she was a new dog with her real personality and she could just be herself.
With that thought she perked her ears pack up. She even breathed a sigh of relief when she started up the stairs to her packs den. Their chosen place made her feel safe. Especially from . . . RAIN. A shiver ran up her spine that made her fur rise and she looked towards the sky. Rain, she shook her coat as if water was running from it. The last thing she wanted to think about was rain. With a few quick bounds she was weaseling her way into the burnt out building.
Aubrey breathed in the smell of old building and musk. The smell was the smell of pack. Home and safety she let out a small woof of happiness. She needed to report that everything was safe for now. No dogs threatening the territory, no humans, and no new possible members. Aubrey stretched her tired limbs one by one and ended up with stretching her back. She moved forward to a corner to lay down for a minute.
She thought for a minute back to when she didn't have a place to stay. When the world was just her against the world. Then the day she met one of the members of One Body. Happy day. No more running by herself. Now she would make herself a perfect member of the pack. Her tail wagged for a mile a minute as her ears were pricked forward to listen for any other members of the pack. Regardless she was already settling into her new pack life.

Drake silently slipped through the corridors of Calvary Hospital. He seriously needed to stretch his legs some and what better way then to patrol around the pack's den a bit. It had been pretty quiet lately, which meant that there wasn't much to do. In addition the pack was really small. Oh well, at least they'd be getting a new member soon... or so he'd heard. He let his mind wonder about the new pack-mate that should be joining them soon. He just hoped that it wouldn't be a conquest hungry aggressor. You never know what you get with some dogs.
Drake shook his head. Surely Gray wouldn't accept such a dog into the pack, he was just being overly pessimistic and just a bit protective of the pack. Just a bit though! For all he knew it could be a yappy little pup. He chuckled to himself at that thought. Well, whoever it was would be there and he'd keep an eye on the dog, at least until he determined that he or she was loyal to Gray and the pack.
He turned a corner and headed into a room. Jumping onto the remains of the bead he focused his gaze on the world outside the building. He was pretty sure he had seen the shadow of a dog right before he entered the room, most likely of the new dog. He was also pretty sure that the other dog had seen his shadow and might soon come in search for him. He sat down, back toward the door and head held high, dark eyes never leaving the scenery outside.
OOC: Ugh... it isn't all that good, but I hope you can start something with it.

It's fine =] In blur of energy the dog jumped up to scratch at an itch on her tail. It felt amazing though it took Aubrey's eye away from the door for five point two seconds. "Chew. Itch. Chew! Damn these fleas!" she mentally cursed the bugs. Hating how they crawled under her fur and found the worst places to bite her. Especially right there on her back where where she struggled the most. Finally with her itching done she looked back to see a dog walking down the corridor!
Her heart thundered in her chest. How could she have been so stupid to look away. The pack was small and she was assigned to protect it. Aubrey jumped to her feet and trotted after the dog. Keeping back a few paces just in case he was unfriendly or a pervert. She'd been in the gang life. She knew what happened to dogs who found her to be a lovely girl. Luckily she didn't stick around long enough to be underneath one of those dogs either. Her whole body shook with disgust at the thought.
She watched the dog until he went to one of the dens rooms. Oh he smelt like pack . . . and her head turned that was odd. He smelt like Drake. Drake. Her savior from the gang, she liked to think of him as a friend though she thought he viewed her more as a burden. Even now she paused before following that scent like before. If it was Drake how, how would he view her now? She left, she had to, he, he didn't feel the things she felt for him. They would never be mates. It was foolish for her to stay and burden him if he did find a mate in another female. The female would have viewed her as trouble anyways and chased her off. The night she left, she left him a piece of meat as a thank you for everything and then ran off. She just ran away. Again. He never followed her or chased after her so in the end she decided she had made the right choice.
But what if he was in there now? Just sitting there alert and ready for action like always? Aubrey felt her heart hammer. This working up enough courage was the worst part. Her paws shuffled as she crept and stopped just before the door. If it was Drake would he even recognize her? It had been two years, she was just a young dog when they met. She shook her head enough was enough she rounded the corner maybe sharper than she should and looked at the dog sitting staring out to the world.
"D-Drake? she whispered. It had to be him. Same glossy coat, same black and tan markings, same muscular build. It had to be him. Her tail tucked and she lowered herself. She wanted to run to him but at the same time she knew running up to any dog with their back turned would end up with her facing their teeth, whether intentional or not. She was still in shock, in this world she would never have thought that he would be there. Sitting in front of her. He would have to turn and speak. Then maybe, still half unconvinced it was him she just froze.

As he sat there, on the old, burned remains of the hospital bed, he couldn't help but let his thoughts wander. The pack seemed to be coming along nicely and they even had a new member, another pair of eyes to keep watch. In a way it reminded him of the time with his family. Back then there had just been him, his father and his two brothers... after his mother had died. Thinking of her made his ears twitch involuntarily, a silent show of emotion. He missed her, he had ever since she died.
His internal rambling was cut short as he heard the dog from before turn the corner and stop before the opening to the room he was in. So he had been right and the dog had followed him. How predictable. He was about to speak when a scent entered his nose, going straight to his brain. It was the scent of a female and it smelled somehow... familiar. A scent from his past, but who? He hadn't had much contact with other dogs after he left home two years ago, at least not as much that he would memories their scent. There had only been that pup he had found, but that was impossible. It had been too long ago.
"D-Drake?" Those words made his ears jump forward, alert. A slight tenseness entered his body, though his face didn't show any difference. Slowly he stood, turning around, his body never loosing it's proud stature. He focused his sharp eyes on the young female before him. She looked so scared, frozen to the ground and tail between her legs. It must have been a shock to her, it was to him as well.
He leaped from his perch and made slowly his way over to her, eyes never missing a beat and head held high. He made sure to keep his face blank as always, he really had no idea what to think of the situation. It was her. Of all dogs that could have entered the pack it had to be her, after such a long time. He remembered the pup, the little female that had scampered after him, been under his watch after he found her lost and alone. After a time she had just vanished and only left a piece of meat behind. He hadn't followed at the time, why should he have. It was her life and her choice what to do with it. He was glad though, she had survived on her own and as far as he could see she didn't have any damage to her body.
He stopped his walk as he was standing before her cowering body. His eyes stared intently at her, his mind for a short time lost in thought. Focusing his thoughts on the situation at hand and the younger dog before him, he leaned his head down a couple of inches. "Aubrey." It wasn't a question, but a fact and it showed in his confident voice. His face was blank, but just a fraction, almost invisible, his eyes lost a bit of their intentness and brought in an edge of softness as he stared at the pup from his past.

OoC: Some how that made me want to say AW! btw sorry this post sucks lol. 'Aubrey.'
He spoke. It was Drake. In a small bark of happiness she felt her whole body change. Happiness. She never expected she was holding back happiness. Her tail was wagging actually almost her whole rear end was. Her head was still lowered not in fear this time, this time it was respect, she always had respect for this dog. Always would. He'd protected her from the gang, she was just a pup then, and now they were in the same pack. She whined excited whines and licked his chin. Showing that still to her he was still considered a friend.
After her happy greeting she settled down her tail still wagging. More relaxed now she sat before him. She was kind of disappointed even sitting he was taller than her. She was more of a medium dog than a large one. It was the chow height in her. Still it made her fell like a puppy. A passing thought of 'hopefully he doesn't treat me as a pup' happened through her brain. It would be possible but she'd just have to show him her worth.
"I don't even know what to say! How are you? Or hi. Or should I just start with, Hi I'm Aubrey?" her lips lifted in a grin. She wondered how he would react. Probably like he always did he was such a stiff sometimes. Though she didn't miss the soft look in his eyes. Aubrey still felt like he just tolerated her. Maybe she should bring that up? She was so full of emotions it was like she was the polar opposite of Drake, though if what they say is true, opposites attract.

Whatever he had expected it wasn't what he actually got. She had recognized him immediately and had showed it, though she had been timid at first. Cowering before him he had had the impression that she was scared of him, maybe because she had left from one minute to another, without looking back. Her demeanor had took a complete turn when he had said her name. He was slightly shocked by the amount of excitement she had shown. Her whole body practically shook with it and he couldn't rid his head of the thought that her tail may fall off with how much she was wagging it... or at least that it would hurt like hell in the morning. She was as amusing as he remembered her to be, there was never a dull moment with her. Back then he had occasionally thought that she was a bit hyperactive, though maybe it had just been him. He didn't have much experience with females and lively pups in general.
And then she did it. Just when he thought she couldn't surprise him a second time, that was exactly what she did. She licked his chin. No dog had ever done that to him and no one had ever greeted him with such excitement before. It made him wonder why she left in the first place and though he was curious about her motives, he wasn't planing to question her about it. If she wanted to tell him he would give her the time until she was ready to do it on her own will, without any pressure.
"I don't even know what to say! How are you? Or hi. Or should I just start with, Hi I'm Aubrey?" Somehow her words just amused him further and made him react in a way completely uncharacteristic to him. He chuckled. Not loudly, but he did, he had voiced his current emotional state. It was quite the shock for him as it was probably for her as well. In a way he shouldn't have been surprised. She was probably the only dog he shared a bond with that wasn't his original family. And maybe that loss had been the driving ground for this emotional attachment. He felt close to her, he could still remember the time they spent together.
As he watched her like that he noted that her personality hadn't changed much. And while she had grown she was still smaller than him, even sitting. Her lively tail was still wagging, though she had composed herself some.
He decided that he had shown enough of his external state then and slowly blanked his face. "I believe we already got the name question out of the way little one. Quite some time ago actually." His voice was neutral, he just felt out of his element with the amount of emotions that he was showing her and actually feeling. The encounter affected him more that he would have ever thought.
OOC: They're just too cute together! =3
