Name: Desiree
Alias: Dez
Gender: Female.
Age: 22 dog years/ 3 human years
Birthdate: March 23rd 2128
Species: Dog.
Breed: Saluki x Collie
Purebred: No.
Pack: Loner.
Height: 62cm
Weight: 53lbs
Build: With the blood of two lean hounds in her, she has a very thin, lean-muscled build. It is completely obvious she is built for speed and stamina. She has rather long paws and very long limbs. Her neck is at average length and her body is narrow, giving her an advantage when cramming her form into narrow places.
Coat: A nice Merle coat, great for camouflage against human building or soot-covered rumble. She has a distinctive pattern over her right eye and another on her right shoulder. Light brown paws when clean and a rather long coat, not long enough to cause to many grooming issues however. Aside from the few impossible knots in her fur, she is a rather clean canine, having not been on the streets long enough to gain any awful dirt stains. On her back specifically there is a decent sheen to her fur but the rest of her coat is fairly dusty.
Head: In the structure of her head is where the Saluki really shows. Dez has a long, narrow nose and fairly wide skull. Her ears are commonly bent over when relaxed; in alert however she pulled the back and to the sides at an odd angle giving her triangular shapes at the side of her head. Dez has rather deep-set eyes and a distinct curve in her forehead.
Eyes: In certain lights Dez’s eyes give the peculiar illusion of changing color. The most common color seen in her eyes is a pale silver, but this sometimes looks like an ever paler blue in the brightest of lights. Though rather simple in color, her eyes hold this kind of gleam to them that seems to show in days of strong cloud-cover or rain. It is know that her right eye has a touch of brown around the edges.
Scars: Having only been on the road for hardly less than two years, the only scars on her body are the few thorn scars on her front legs and the short scar on her left hip from her pup years when she was struck by a flying tree limb during a strong-winded storm.
Accessories: Desiree has a thin, slight, sturdy collar around her neck with a round tag with the word “Loyal” on it. This collar is a dark blue/black kind of color and it is frayed in a few places. The ring holding her tag shows only minor signs of rust on it from the rain.

Speed: High.
Stamina: Above average.
Strength: Below average.
Fighting: Average.
Strengths: Intelligence and logic – Desiree is a quick thinker, she can focus in the toughest situations and it not easily fooled or tricked, giving her a bit of a trust issue.
Judgment – Dez can easily tell the wrong from the right. She usually keeps herself out of harm’s way and busies herself with searching for the few remaining good-hearted humans and dogs left on the planet.
Hunting and Speed – Desiree has exquisite hunting skills and uses these for smaller prey, rarely missing when she is truly focused on the hunt. She finds herself decently well fed with all of her successful rat-hunts and is quick enough to catch slower prey even in the pits of her worst hungers.
Loyalty – Due to how she was raised, and the blood in her veins, Dez’s loyalty is strong and near unbreakable. When put in a place to betray anyone she has a tie to, she may retaliate negatively towards the culprit.
Weaknesses: EDBSO – Translation: Easily distracted by shiny objects – this explains itself.
Brute Strength – Dez is a dog built for speed, stamina, and the art of stalking. She is not a dog of immense strength which is one of the reasons she refrains from fights.
Intimidation – With eyes too soft to be considered angry, and her thin appearance, Dez is not the greatest at intimidation. Though to any human, a bit of drool and snarling fangs would send them off the edge, I’m not so sure any large dog that’s been around for long enough would really be afraid of her. She can be scary in the right instances, but if she’s not angry enough, not really.
Pain Tolerance – Though Dez is the kind to put on a brave face and say it’s okay, she has a very low pain tolerance. Not counting her thick paws, due to her lack of fighting, pain is not her favorite thing. Dez cannot be crippled by a shallow scratch but a deep enough gash or a twisted limb could really cause an issue for this speedy girl. In the occasional time of need, an injury of such level could be ignored to the point of a limping walk, but it is rare. She relies on her speed to keep her safe, without it, she is vulnerable. [Not to be used against her without asking!]
Personality: Dez takes more after the Collie side to her pedigree than the Saluki. She kind, caring, protective, and loyal to anyone who gets on her good side. She is a quick witted, intelligent female with a taste for squirrels, when she can find them. She is a skilled hunter but adverse to fighting whenever possible. Having a strong morality about herself, she refused to eat human or dog meat, as she was a human’s pet not long ago. Dez has a large amount of patients and it takes a lot to break her, but she can be broken with the right words, such as talk against her previous human. Dez has a high value of life and though she tends to be very open minded about others she is an easy judge, having the skills to tell the wrong crowd from the good. She prides herself in little but her speed, giving her the ability to flee from an unfair fight or a bad situation. With a strong resistance to taunting, she may be called out as a coward, but in her heart she knows she is just making a logical decision. Dez loves to find the occasional human child and often tries to get close to any human she can, sometimes she is successful in getting scraps of food, and rarer still she may be lashed out at in which case she simply turns and keeps on searching for a kind-hearted person. With both sides of her breed being kind and loving, Dez often has a playful streak that shows her Saluki blood more evidently.
Fears: Dez is a bold female, very brave, but everyone has something to fear. As kind as she is, one of Dez’s biggest fears involve losing her mind and/or going rabid. She enjoys being able to think is sticky situations and the greatest thing she has in life is her wit. A lesser fear is dying by the hands of another dog, Dez wants to live her life to the fullest, and to the end. This is another reason why she tries so often to avoid fights if there is no probable cause of winning, or no reason to do so.
Family: Dez was hand raised as a pup, taken from a wild litter. Her mother was a 78% Rough Collie [also known as a Long-haired Collie] while her father was a 54% Saluki. She knew neither of her parents and she was one of two pups to survive out of a litter of four. Her mother died at birth and her father took over after getting her mother pregnant. She did not know her parents and her sister died a few months into life so she barely knew her as well.
History: When Dez was born her mother was not strong enough to survive the birth. Her mother and litter mates were born in the alley of a small human settlement just outside the sanctuary. These humans were not allowed inside the walls of the unaffected human town for they were said to carry genes not resistant to the strange “Moscow” virus.
Soon after the death of two of Dez’s littermates, her sister and herself were rescued by an elderly man with a soft-spot for dogs. They were taken in, cleaned, and fed with what little food he had. A month or so into their new life, Dez’s sister, Teena, began to fall ill, loosing strength and the will to eat. Dez was young and did not understand what was happened, that her sister was dying, but she stayed with her till her last breath. She spent so long with Teena in fact that she herself got a little weaken from eating less and not sleeping.
The human master buried Teena’s small body and Dez found herself in sadness for more than a day or so, before the will to live inside her was so strong she could no longer not eat, sleep, or play.
Dez lived a decent life with her human. She was taut to hunt, run, and even fish what little fish survive in the murky waters nearby.
A few days after Dez turned one, her master returned home with a strange air of sickness to him. His walk was slower than usual and he had dark bags beneath his eyes. Concerned for her master, Dez hunted harder in order to feed him, but a few days later he could no longer keep down his food. Dez pushed herself to the very limits to do all she could for her deteriorating human. Little did she know there was no chance of his survival. Her human was a strong, healthy old man, but he was not immune to the horrible, unexplained “Moscow” disease. His skin began to slowly turn black and he grew to have a bad cough that increased steadily until blood began to come with it.
Dez’s owner died, slowly, painfully. Had he been able to get medicine, he may even have been able to survive. The human was lucky, or unlucky, enough to survive longer than most could when infected by this disease.
The young, year old Collie stayed by her human, like her sister before him, until his death. When the disease did finally take his life she stayed around a while longer, eating what little meat was left. A few days after his death however, a couple of brave boys came in to raid the house. Desiree stood before them, fangs bared, fur rising on her shoulders, eyes angry for their insolence. The boys ran from the house and Dez took to the streets, beginning her journey…

Rain pattered lightly against the hood of a strange figure's coat. The sun, high in the afternoon sky, blocked by thick clouds. It was a strange kind of day, beautiful but still so very wet, which made it all the more humid and unbearable for the figure in the coat.
After a few more steps, hands lifted and pulled the hood back to reveal dark blonde hair, damp and glimmering as more rain poured onto her head and ran down her face. The woman sighed, blue eyes lifting to a town not far off. It was small, hopefully the people would be friendly. She'd traveled for some bit, all the way from Wringles.
It was a tough road, avoiding the the woods and staying just off the path. The young woman always kept to the smaller towns, safe from human-hating Lycan, as she was told, and safe from the violent humans in the big cities. Small villages seemed to be the best choice, sometimes she even got a nice family to let her stay so she didn't have to spend what little money she had on a hotel.
As she neared the town a weird sense of protection came over her, as if the town was guarded. She smiled in the rain, rain falling from her pale pink lips. She might have to stay here a while. This was a beautiful village...
