Is there a form I need to use? Yes, but it is automatic when you post. When you go to post your character's application, the form will instantly replace the regular post format. You simply fill in the sections and it will be posted in a pre-coded format.
Can my dog be a purebred? Purebreds are strongly discouraged due to how unlikely it is for them to exist. Before the outbreak of the virus, poverty was an increasing problem, which resulted in fewer purebred dogs being bred, and even in fewer families even keeping dogs as pets. Due to this it is very unlikely for any younger dogs (under 8) to be a purebred. Some exceptions are made if you can give a reasonable excuse as for how they came to be.
Can my dog be part wolf? Yes, wolf hybrids are allowed so long as they are not more than 50% wolf. You may be given special permission for a higher amount of wolf, but generally anything with more wolf than dog will be rejected (this is a dog role play, not a wolf one, if you want to play a wolf you may purchase one using points or join a site for role playing wolves instead).
I don't know my dog's height/weight, what should it be? If your dog is a purebred, this is fairly simple. Google the breed's name and look for a site that has the information. Generally if you can find the breed on the AKC website this is the most accurate, though I've found they don't always list the weight. I also use www.dogbreedinfo.com at times, as it always lists both height and weight. Some of it is incorrect, but for the most part it is in the general range. If you're creating a mutt, figure out what breeds are in its pedigree. Google the breeds and find their average height/weight. You can either pick something that seems to be around the average for all the breeds or you can add up all the numbers in the breeds heights then divide by however many breeds you have, this will give you a rough average. You can do the same for weight.
Can dogs have owners? Yes, though this is rare in the present time. In the past, dogs would have more. If your dog is more than eight years old, it would have been around before the outbreak, meaning it would have been more likely to have had an owner. Dogs born after this time are unlikely to have owners.
Can my dog be a previous showdog? No. As stated before, poverty would have also made this something of the past. Your dog would need to be very, very old to have been around when things like dog shows were still being held. A show dog also probably would not survive in this environment.
Does my dog have to eat humans/other dogs? Not at all. If your dog personally does not want to do this, it does not have to. However, there is a very limited amount of food available in the Stranglehold. Dogs who do not eat humans or other dogs will most likely have a difficult time keeping fed. Most of what a dog will eat if he or she refuses to eat other dogs or humans will be what little trash humans throw out, cats, rats, or for smaller dogs, bugs and perhaps even lizards.
Does my dog have to be in a pack? No. You do not have to ever join a pack if you do want to do so, but we do highly encourage people to join them as it makes things more interesting.
Are dogs allowed to have sexual orientations? Yes. You can make your dog whatever you'd like when it comes to this.
Can my dog be spayed/neutered? If you want, yes, but only if they are over eight or so years old as it is unlikely for someone to both own a dog and actually have any sort of veterinary work done on it after the outbreak.
My dog has some odd markings, but I don't know if they're acceptable. What should I do? Post your application as you normally would, possibly point out that you are unsure about the markings, and staff will review it to decide if they are acceptable or not.
What breeds are overused? Huskies are quite possibly the most overused. Malamutes, German Shepherds, Great Danes, Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, Pit Bulls, Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Irish Wolfhounds, Dobermans, Rottweilers, and Catahoula Leopard Dogs are ones we see pretty often. We will accept characters of these breeds unless there is currently a ban on one.
What should I do for strengths/weaknesses? Figure out what aspects of your dogs personality are positive or negative traits. Do the same for their physical appearance. IE: If your dog is a large breed, this could be both a strength and a weakness. It would be a strength as he would be large and intimidating, most likely harder to overpower, but also a weakness as it would make it more difficult for him to get through small spaces and likely harder for him to hide as well. Things such as speed, stamina, and fighting skill are covered in another part of the application, so listing these is redundant.
What should I do for speed/stamina/strength/fighting? This is a fairly simple part of the application. You simply choose how skilled your dog is in any of these. Please keep their breed in mind, as this will effect that and should be considered.
I want to play a different species, what should I do? If you've already gained the points to buy the species, then go about your application as you normally would. There is a section to select your species from those currently available on the application.
More may later be added to this list. If you feel like something should be added up here, PM me and I will look it over.
