- Don't be a dick. Seriously, it's not hard to be polite when you join. Respect the staff, respect the other members, and don't make make yourself look like an ass.
- You must be active. Posting at least once a week is encouraged, once a month is the absolute bare minimum. Activity checks will be frequently held. Missing two in a row will result in your account and characters being deleted. Please be sure you can receive emails from thestranglehold@gmail.com, as we will send you multiple warnings before deleting any of your characters or your account.
- If you do not post a character application within one week of creating your account, you will be deleted. If you post in the absences thread explaining why you've not posted sometime during this time your account will remain so long as you intend to become active soon.
- Do not post anywhere else (besides the absences thread) until you have posted your character application sheet and it has been accepted. Until you do this all posts created elsewhere will be deleted.
- Do not argue with the staff if your character is not accepted, it won't change our minds. Insulting, flaming, or arguing with us anywhere on the site (cbox included) because your character was rejected will result in an IP ban. Have some maturity, please.
- In character fights are not to be taken out of character or vice versa. If you have a problem with a member, contact me or one of the other staff members, explain the problem, and we'll see what we can do about it.
- You are not allowed to use artwork that is not your own or you do not have permission to use. It's art theft. The stolen image will be removed, you will be flamed and possibly banned, and (if possible) the proper owner of the image will be notified.

- TSH is an Account Per Character site. This means you will have a different account for every character you wish to play.
- You must also have an out of character account. This is the name you will use in the Cbox and in any OOC discussions. Your character accounts are strictly for role playing.
- There is no limit to the number of characters/accounts you can have, so long as they are all active.
- Characters who are played by the same person and are almost always role played together may be on a single account.
- Please do not use numbers, letters, or odd symbols in the names of your IC accounts. Have them properly capitalised, not in all caps or all lowercase. IE: if your character is named Jack, your username should be "Jack", not "JACK" or "jack". When you register, your name will automatically be in lowercase. You can fix this in your profile by changing the "Display Name" field.

- This is a "literate" site. The term literate can be debated all you want, but most people know what this stands for in the role playing world. Basically, we expect decent grammar, capitalization, spelling, punctuation, etc. Everyone makes mistakes, that's fine, but at least put effort into what you type while in character.
- Please keep a post order. Wait for everyone to have their turn posting in a thread before you respond again. IE: If four people are in a thread and you were the last to post then the beginning two post, wait for #3 to post before you respond unless #3 seems to have gone inactive for a long while.
- We don't enjoy reading posts that are three words long, please try your hardest to make your posts la decent size unless your characters are in the middle of a conversation where adding much of anything else would be considered "fluff". There is no dead-set word minimum at the moment, though we encourage posts of two hundred words or more.
- There is a built in spell checker on this site, it's there for a reason; use it.
- We do not use Wolfspeak here. We will not tolerate someone vomiting up random words in the delusion that it makes them sound fancy. There is a post concerning wolfspeak on Stranglehold here.
- While Stranglehold is a mature site, and we do allow a lot of things, please keep it within the Proboards TOS.
- Please do not include large images with your role play posts (this does not include signatures). Putting a header in the top of your first post in a thread is fine, just make sure it is no larger than 200 pixels high and that it does not stretch the board.

- Though this is a dog role play other species are allowed through a point system. To obtain a cat, wolf, coyote, fox, or other type of animal you will have to earn points through being a loyal, helpful member to the site. Wolfdogs (wolf x dog) and coydogs (coyote x dog) do not cost points but should be in smaller numbers than other breeds, and may become banned if there are too many created. Additionally, wolf hybrids are not allowed to be more than 50% wolf without special permission.
- Collars, certain types of jewelry, and certain types of clothing will be permitted. Those allowed without question will be: collars, necklaces, bandannas, harnesses, ear tags (if a feral species), radio collar (if a feral species), and dangling ropes, chains, or leashes attached to a collar. If your character was born on the street and has never once even been touched by a human, you'd better have a very good story as for why they're wearing a collar/harness/etc.
- Sizes, colors, and markings should be relatively normal. We don't want any demon 500lb dogs who're as big as a horse that has lime green hearts plastered all over its back. If you can pull off an obscure marking without making it look tacky, it may be accepted. Some odd colors will be accepted so long as they are minor such as a marking or the like. Don't try to join as a bright pink dog... unless it's got a story for how it was dyed that way.
- A dog that lives on the street and has been for a long time is not going to have a perfectly well groomed, shiny, clean coat. They likely won't be very well fed either, especially in Stranglehold. So we ask that you take into consideration how long your dog has been a stray before making Fifi the cleanest, shiniest stray dog in the world.
- Give us a pure white husky with blue eyes who is beautiful, smart, friendly, and brave, but "when she's mad you'd better watch out!" and we're probably not going to be very impressed. Give her a sob story background that includes everyone she loves dying and we're definitely not impressed. Mary-Sues are a no. Try to have some originality, please.
- It is assumed the settings is in America. So if any of your characters speak with an accent or the like that is not from America, then please have a history for how they ended up here rather than just giving them a random accent.
- Lone pups would not last long at all, especially in Stranglehold as they might very well be seen as food. We discourage you from playing young, defenseless, lone pups wandering around, though depending on the situation we may make exceptions.
- Names like Mistheart, Stormpaw, and etc. (Basically any two-word name) are discouraged for ANY species of animals. This is not a Warriors role play. Human names (IE: Albert, Jack, Gina) are acceptable, as are foreign names, made-up names, and typical names like Bullet and etc.
